Role Overview
Working directly with our artists and their teams, you will lead audience development and digital engagement strategy across all platforms. You’ll shape how artists show up online—driving growth, deepening fan relationships, and building sustainable communities through thoughtful content, direct marketing, and data-informed decision-making.
You’re equal parts strategist and creator: comfortable developing big-picture plans while also executing content, writing in distinct artist voices, and adapting quickly to emerging trends. You bring strong creative instincts, technical fluency, and a deep understanding of music culture.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
Collaborate with artist teams, marketing, management, and promoters to align digital strategy with campaigns, music releases, tours, and brand development
Develop and execute audience growth and engagement strategies across social platforms, DSPs, artist websites,digital advertising initiatives and direct marketing channels
Plan and manage content calendars, ensuring consistent output and high creative standards
Creative
Create and/or coordinate social content and marketing assets, including idea generation, copywriting, graphic design, photography, asset formatting, and short-form video filming and editing
Maintain and update artist websites and digital touchpoints, including website layout and design.
Capture and publish content at shows and events as needed
Oversee third-party content capture and/or editing services as needed
Execution
Obtain approvals, schedule and post social media content on all platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Reels, Youtube Shorts, TikTok)
Lead community management across artist channels (comments, DMs, moderation)
Create/maintain additional digital accounts on platforms including official fan accounts, messaging groups (e.g. Discord, WhatsApp)
Build and grow direct-to-fan ecosystems (e.g., Substack, Laylo), including database strategy and retention initiatives
Strategize, deploy and report on digital advertising campaigns
Coordinate the launch of merch sales, ticket pre-sales, exclusives and other artist webstore offerings
Analysis
Track and analyze performance across platforms; report on insights and optimize accordingly
Monitor trends and platform changes, applying insights to campaigns and artist strategies
Requirements
Expertise in all social platforms and digital marketing ecosystems
Experience creating and editing short-form video and digital content
Excellent copywriting skills with the ability to adapt to different artist voices
Proficiency with content tools and creative software (e.g., Adobe Suite or similar)
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Self-starter with strong collaboration and communication skills
Passion for music, culture, and storytelling
Nice to Have
Experience in the music industry for 2+ years
Undergraduate degree
Education related to the music business, digital marketing, or communications
Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, Dropbox, Slack, E-Clincher, MailChimp, Meta Business Suite and YouTube Studio
Experience with community platforms (Discord, Substack, podcasting, etc.)
You have great taste, strong instincts, and genuinely care about artists and their audiences.
Job Specs
Position: Digital Marketing and Audience Development Manager
Reporting to: President of Six Shooter Inc. & VP Marketing
Job Type: 12 month contract with possibility of conversion to permanent position
Hours: Monday-Friday 10:00AM – 6:00PM
Location: Toronto-based exclusively. This is an in-office position 5 days/week.
Compensation and benefits: $55,000-$70,000 annual salary, to be determined commensurate with experience. Health and dental benefits. 3 weeks vacation, plus the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Half day Fridays in the summer.
