RAVE REVIEWS FOR THE DEEP DARK WOODS
Praise for The Place I Left Behind, the new album from The Deep Dark Woods, is streaming in from coast to coast, kind of like a very long stream that spans coast to coast… a river if you will, but “rivering in from coast to coast” sounds weird.
WAGONS SET TO RELEASE RUMBLE, SHAKE AND TUMBLE
The title Rumble, Shake and Tumble effectively captures Wagons‘ rowdy roots-rock style, a Red, White and Blue palette of rock ‘n’ roll, country, cabaret, psychedelia and soul. That’s the Australian Red, White, and Blue of course!
THE BEAUTIES' FIRST EVER WESTERN TOUR
Hot off the busiest day in Beauties history, one that started with two Hillside shows…first with the Beauties’ current touring mate Serena Ryder and then with Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew
TRAMPLED BY TURTLES WILL TRAMPLE YOUR TURTLE
3000 lucky Newport Folk Festival goers recently had their collective turtles completely trampled by Trampled By Turtles. Standing ovations (or “standing Os” as I like to call ’em) and sing-alongs led to a rare festival stage encore, where TxT delivered their take on the Pixies “Where Is My Mind,”
JUSTIN RUTLEDGE IS A GOLDEN GREEK GOD
Justin Rutledge returns to the stage to star currently in the Canadian performance debut of Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice, a modern retelling of the ancient myth of Orpheus – from the dead bride’s point of view.
MARTIN TIELLI EXHIBIT AT GATE 403
Torontonians can stop by The Gate 403 (403 Roncesvalles Avenue) to check out recent art works by Martin Tielli. There might even be a catalogue available to purchase works, like last time. If you’re interested, let me know, shauna@sixshooterrecords.com.
SIX SHOOTER SIGNS THE DEEP DARK WOODS
We’re proud to announce that The Deep Dark Woods will release their third full-length record, The Place I Left Behind, on August 2, 2011 on Six Shooter Records.
SIX SHOOTER SIGNS WAGONS
More hot fun for Six Shooter Records this summertime, with new additions to the roster from here, there and even other hemispheres. Rolling in from Melbourne, Australia is Wagons, a band with a wild-eyed, audience-taunting frontman (ie. a regular Australian), Henry Wagons, and an instrument-swapping set of musicians who keep the shows just on this side of sanity.
JENN GRANT MEETS THE ROYALS
Much ado has been made of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visiting our fair country, a visit covered by no fewer than 1300 media types, and lemme tell ya, that ain’t nothing! Shakespeare joke! Humour fit for Royals! Our very own Jenn Grant slammed back some royal jelly shots, donned her Royal Elastics sneakers, and had the honour and pleasure of performing for William and Kate!
POLARIS LOVE FOR BOTH JENN GRANT and LUKE DOUCET & THE WHITE FALCON
We were very pleased when we found out that the one kabillion jurors for the Polaris Long List have included two Six Shooter albums in the mix: “Honeymoon Punch” by Jenn Grant, and “Steel City Trawler” by Luke Doucet & the White Falcon.
LUKE DOUCET ANNOUNCES CANADIAN TOUR DATES
Don’t miss Luke and his awesome band the White Falcon this summer! It has just occurred to me that Luke should probably dress up as Falco for Halloween this year.
SUMMER FESTIVAL RECAP
With just a few festivals under our belt, there is already lots to report, what with Jenn Grant meeting the Royals (as reported above, they are both very fancy, and apparently quite fits in the athletic sense, not the British, “whoa that bird is FIT” sense), Sarah McLachlan joining the White Falcon’s set at the Burlington Sound of Music festival
