William Prince continues to preview his forthcoming album, Further From the Country, with “Damn,” another new song and video out today. Set in New York, or Winnipeg, or any small town, “Damn” finds Prince in his most topical and observational form. Against the backdrop of a bad news ticker tape, “Damn” never wavers in care and concern.

"’Damn’ comes from a place I know too well — where tragedy becomes so common it starts to feel ordinary, and where comfort can quietly turn down the volume on our care. This song is me wrestling with that truth, and reaching for something more,” says Prince. “It’s about looking at the pieces scattered around us, naming what’s been lost, and still believing in what we can build. ‘Damn’ is both a reckoning and a reminder — that even in the hardest moments, we’re not powerless to change the story.”

Further From the Country, Prince’s cosmic, adventurous new album, traces his journey ‘from Peguis First Nation to the Milky Way.’ This phrase is both symbolic of the great distance traveled in his life and career to this point, and the grand scope of his future trajectory. Seen in the riveting, movie-quality album trailer directed by Martin LaFrenière, Further From the Country finds pathways converging and velocity increasing as it reaches for limitless possibility.
