Today, William Prince shares “For the First Time,” a song of grief and remembrance, from forthcoming album Further From the Country, out October 17, 2025 on Six Shooter Records.

“For the First Time” is exemplary of William Prince’s ability to create music that soothes in times of distress. Over piano and strings, Prince’s voice is as familiar and comforting as a family photo album. “I have a life filled with so many blessings, but I wish I could share all of this with my father,” says William Prince. “I think a lot of us wish for this with people we’ve lost. We grow without them - not because we love them less, but because we get better at living and loving ourselves more.”

Further From the Country, Prince’s cosmic, adventurous new album, traces his journey ‘from Peguis First Nation to the Milky Way.’ This phrase is both symbolic of the great distance traveled in his life and career to this point, and the grand scope of his future trajectory. Seen in the riveting, movie-quality album trailer directed by Martin Lafrieniere, Further From the Country finds pathways converging and velocity increasing as it reaches for limitless possibility. Prince is currently opening for Midland in the UK. This fall he will perform at Evanston Folk Festival, AMERICANAFEST, Rifflandia and make his debut at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in October. See tour dates below for details.
