William Prince Hears “The Sound of Christmas”
Two Original Holiday Songs and “Silver Bells” out Today
Listen HERE
In “The Sound of Christmas,” William Prince puts an ingenious twist on classic themes, celebrating the role that music and the real-life sounds of Christmas - laughter, clinking of glassware, skates carving ice, bells carrying through the air - play in our memories and festivities.
With his first holiday music offering, one of our finest songwriters captures the spirit of the season - generosity, patience and gratitude - and adds an instant classic to the holiday songbook. In warm vignettes, Prince paints a picture of the holiday in all its cheer: a family gathering, a trip to the mall, a crowded kitchen, games and treats, and gathering ’round to celebrate, together. Most of all, Prince expresses the essence of the season, cherishing the time we spend with one another.
Listen to “The Sound of Christmas” here.
Prince shares a second original, “Don’t Go Leaving Me (It’s Christmas Eve),” a wistful meditation on companionship. His wish list is a simple one: let warmer hearts prevail. To round out the new holiday song set, Prince puts his rich baritone to “Silver Bells,” a classic Country Christmas selection. Trimmed with piano and pedal steel, Prince’s rendition hits all the holiday notes.
Produced by Liam Duncan (Boy Golden), this Winnipeg-made holiday song set is simple, fresh, sentimental and real, a welcome and entertaining addition to the seasonal songbook.
William Prince recently performed at The Ryman for You Got Gold, Celebrating the Life & Songs of John Prine. Prince joins Ocie Elliott on tour across the USA this fall and returns to Massey Hall on the bill for the 20th edition of Andy Kim Christmas on December 4, 2024.

ABOUT WILLIAM PRINCE
Guided by a practical yet profound gratitude, William Prince’s songs convey the power of wonder and humility. A masterclass in skilful simplicity, Prince’s songwriting is grounded in a balance between the personal and the universal, his own moments of self-discovery and the larger questions we face together. Prince offers what’s true for himself in whatever way it is helpful. Grace is not a final state but a process.
Over four albums, Wialliam Prince has created a body of work that traces a remarkable journey. Prince’s discography finds its steadying, timeless appeal in his rich voice and assured restraint. Now with Stand in the Joy, produced by Dave Cobb, William Prince finds himself exactly where he needs to be.
Prince has also built a collection of memorable collaborations with many of Canada’s most esteemed artists, including Buffy Sainte-Marie, The Tragically Hip and Serena Ryder along the way. Prince’s career trajectory is marked by accolades and milestones: an opening slot for Neil Young, JUNO Awards, tours with The War and Treaty, Yola and Katie Pruitt, two Tiny Desks and a return to the studio with Grammy winning producer Dave Cobb.
