July Talk go aquatic with new single “I Am Water,” in which the band grapples with our human nothingness as a counterbalance to capital D Dread. Like all true Scorpios, “I Am Water” is ruled by a vast force of emotion, just as the tide is controlled by the moon. Powered by alarm and elation, the new song celebrates moving our bodies. “But we coincide,” Leah and Peter sing; we are here, now, together. When we face the cosmic improbability of it all, we can dance.
Release and unleash, be pulled by the moon out into the night. Listen to “I Am Water,” produced and mixed by Graham Walsh.
Lyric video directed by Cosette Schulz
With this new song, July Talk begin a new era with Six Shooter Records. The new partnership brings the founding of Danuta, equal parts independent record label, production company and creative collective, as a new home base for Leah Fay Goldstein and Peter Dreimanis’ many creative pursuits.
“‘I Am Water’ emerged over the summer in a wild jam session with our dear friends Kevin Drew and Dani Nash (she is also joining us on percussion + vocals this tour). We all tried to let our instincts do the talking, and as Kev put it, the song ended up feeling “urgent and free”. We are feeling encouraged by the opportunity to let loose and share all our pent up energy with the world. It’s hard to stop smiling at the start of this new era, approaching our first big tour back and starting our own independent record label/production company/creative collective, Danuta with our fam at Six Shooter. Onwards with love!"

About July Talk
July Talk continues to rise with purpose and poise. The band stormed in with the flinty rock n’ roll of their debut, followed by the volatile siren songs of Touch, an album of sawtoothed pop + convulsing tension. With Pray For It, their JUNO Award winning third album, July Talk acknowledges the power of vulnerability as a way to begin again. Their churning and fiercely physical performances make spaces hiss and hum, spit and seethe in glorious, artful abandon. The band has also grown in their roles as advocates of an urgent and fundamental music industry recalibration, through curatorial partnerships with festivals and by defining their own parameters for safer spaces at rock shows. July Talk is Leah Fay, Peter Dreimanis, Josh Warburton, Ian Docherty + Danny Miles.
