What does it mean to stay crisp?

As the leader of the Church of Better Daze, I strive to stay crispy on a day-to-day basis. I encourage my congregation and the Church Staff to remain as crisp as possible. Staying crispy is often misunderstood as getting stoned. This is not the way. Crispy is a mindset. It’s a mentality. It’s a way of being. It’s a place – a metaphysical space.

How To Live A Crispy Life

Living a crispy life does not need to be complicated. There are many ways to go about it. I, Boy Golden, am perfectly crisp when I am recording, particularly when I am playing with others. I am listening in my headphones to the song and trying to allow the parts to come to me, fully formed. Whatever I play on my first try is usually the right part; every other take is just trying to nail the performance of that intuition. It is my hope that as I become increasingly crisp, I will be able to play everything once, on the first try, as the song demands. This is the same feeling I get when sitting in meditation. When I finally settle in, there is a sense of ‘dropping back’ that is the same sense I get when I am recording.
