Ok, so I am writing this on an airplane right now (ooooo...does this mean that it's officially the future?!), and there is this dude sitting across the aisle from me who has a really runny nose and there is a big drip of snot that looks like it's going to drop at any second! His nose seriously looks like a leaky tap, and he's not (he snot?) doing anything about it! Gross!

2004 REVIEW

Ah, so the year is coming to a close. Wow, this has been a very busy year for us here at Six Shooter! We expanded our website, signed a bunch of amazing new artists (Ford Pier, Justin Rutledge, Valery Gore), licensed Luke Doucet's record to Hot Records in the UK, penned a distribution deal with our pals at Warner, invented a few new words, released Luke's live album, helped the Rheostatics launch their new album, threw a bunch of contests, partied like it was 1999, subjected our newsletter readers to countless bad puns, and sent our artists on tour all over the world! At least one of us here at Six Shooter central also managed to watch over twenty hours of Muppet related videos this year! Oh my, those muppets are some funny critters.

7+ RELEASES FOR SIX SHOOTER IN 2005!

2005 is also going to be a karazee year for Six Shooter with a whole schwack of brand spankin’ new releases by Justin Rutledge (Feb. 8), NQ Arbuckle (Mar. 1), Christine Fellows, Captain Tractor (Mar. 15), Chris Wynters, Luke Doucet, and our brand spanking new artist, Valery Gore (if you keep reading, which I know you will, you will find a l'il ol' tidbit about her below). That's a lot of spanking! So much spanking in fact that I am turning rosy red just writing about it! Kinky!

SIX SHOOTER IN THE UK

2005 also has Six Shooter crossing the Atlantic and launching its wares to the UK. It will be a long swim. With distribution by the fine team at BMG-affiliates RSK, publicity by the dashing Paddy Forwood, radio promotion by the smashing Lee at Overground, and spearheaded by crack Six Shooter specialist, the one and only Laura Quartarone, it's going to be one blimey affair! I don't even know what that means, but I hope it's good!

LUKE DOUCET'S FANCY SCHMANCY CHURCH SHOW

We're going to kick off this fabulous year on a fancy tip! Fri. Jan. 14th Luke Doucet plays at the Trinity St. Paul Church in Toronto (Bloor/Spadina), complete with backing band and this time with a full-on string quartet. Rawr! Tickets go on sale shortly at Soundscapes, Rotate This, CD Replay, maplemusic.com, and Ticketmaster. Be sure to show up early, as it's general pew-ing. Those caught mixing scotch with holy water will be promptly dealt with. Stay tuned for all the gory details.

VALERY GORE SIGNS TO SIX SHOOTER

We are thrilled thrilled thrilled to be bringing the ridiculously talented Valery Gore into the Six Shooter posse. Not that she has a talent for the ridiculous, but a ridiculous amount of talent, make sense? Now that we cleared that up, hooray for us! Hooray for you! Watch for her fantastic debut album in 2005. For those lucky folks in Toronto, be blown away by her this weekend at the Rivoli and see what we mean for yourself: Friday night (Dec. 10, as in tonight) opening for Simon Wilcox and Sunday night (Dec. 12) opening for Lindy. Both shows start at 9 pm. Don't miss out. She is a genius...and quite genial...a genial genius if you will.

MARTIN TIELLI IN BLACK WIDOW

Our own Mr. Martin Tielli can now add a slash in his title by becoming a musician/actor. Alongside Sarah Slean and Mary Margaret O'Hara, Martin stars in a movie about a woman (Slean) from Hamilton who, with the help of her mother (O'Hara), murders her husband (Tielli) and their baby. Based on a true story, even! Sounds like a pretty sketchy story to me. The convenient thing about having a cast made up of musician/actors is that you can also wind up with a built in soundtrack, in this case produced by our own Michael Phillip Wojewoda. Martin has been getting into character by lurking around in a pair of black pajamas with pipe cleaner spider legs attached to them all week.

HAPPY CAMPERS KIDS CD

Luke Doucet is joined by his beautiful daughter, Chloe, for their first public performance of the duet they recorded last Christmas, entitled "So Far Away", which in addition to another track of Luke's, "Dolores", will appear on the Happy Campers' compilation, "I'm Somebody, Too". This album is the Campers' second album raising money for kids...this time the recipient is Arts City, an inner city arts program for children. You can check out their site, www.campfirerecords.com, when it is finished, but meanwhile, the CD is available for purchase at www.sixshooterrecords.com. In addition to the Luke/Chloe turn on stage, the show features performances by artists featured on the CD, including Boat, Charlie Redstar, and Blunderspublik. All taking place at the Pyramid Cabaret in Winnipeg on Sunday, December 19th, doors at 7:30; showtime 8:30, tickets $8/$10, available Music Trader and Into the Music. I went to one of Chloe's birthday parties once, and she turned all of her guests i nto a giggling mess by pointing out that my underpants were showing. It was embarrassing, and I learned my lesson.

DECEMBER CONTEST

It's freakin' cold, so we thought we'd have some fun with that. Choose any or all six shooter artist(s), and cite lyrical references to winter (ie. snow, ice, cold, frozen, Christmas, December, etc.). The first person to send me six qualifying quotes will win a bitchin' six shooter prize pack.

We don't know how many more Mondays our dear Justin will be playing his residency at the Cameron House in Toronto, so showing up this Monday (Dec. 13) is definitely recommended. Rumour has it that the residency will run only to the end of this month.
