Bonjour mes amis! I've got a few quick updates for you. In this issue...

  1. Bravo! Martin Tielli!

  2. Veal says thanks.

  3. NQ is here.

MARTIN TIELLI

For those of you living in Toronto, there is much activity surrounding Martin in the next week. Don't miss out on the Rivoli shows this weekend, featuring his band, Operation Infinite Justice, Fri. Oct. 11 and Sat. Oct. 12. Tix $12 at the door.

Opening the shows are the Faceless Forces of Bigness, a spontaneous collective of four visual and aural polluters, or so they say. Featuring wunderkid Michael Phillip Wojewoda on vintage synths/filtering/vocoding, video artist Justin Stephenson (the man responsible for the haunting video for I'll Never Tear You Apart by Martin Tielli and P.I.N. by the Rheostatics) on laptop video/text generation, Chris Stringer in charge of analog filtering and operating an instrumentless console, and Tom Heron also on the instrumentless console. What ever that means! Sounds cool, though. It'll be a rare appearance for this avant troupe, not to be missed.

And speaking of Justin Stephenson and the bewitching video for "I'll Never Tear You Apart", Toronto folks can see it on the big screen on Wednesday, October 16th at the Royal Cinema on College Street at 7 pm as part of a Bravo! sponsored evening of short films. Tickets available at the door.

VEAL

Whew! In the words of Wesley Willis, the gigs were a success. Rock over London! Welcome to all our new friends from near and afar to this list. Many thanks to people from the Pacific and on both sides of the Atlantic for a successful tour: Kris at EMP for sending back the 7 inches we left there, Mike for offering to pick them up, all the fabulous merch volunteers (Rob, Erin, Amy, Jessica, Tanya, Kristy, James, Kader, Laurel), all the great promoters, Ben D. for the amp, and also thanks to our new pals - Ben and Phil - at Up All Night for keeping us well lubricated and up all night every night in London! Special thanks to Johnny D. at Bright Star - woo hoo!

Watch for some upcoming Luke Doucet dates in October/November, and a few more Veal dates in November/December.

NQ ARBUCKLE

NQ's album has arrived, it is in stores, and it is available also through www.lodestarmusic.com. It looks totally rad, and sounds even better. Neville's official CD release is November 2nd at the Rivoli in Toronto, complete with pinata-bashing. On your mark.

Beauty On,
Shauna

p.s. anyone got a Steinberger just like the one Martin uses for sale? His is worn right out. :(
