May 2002
a bird flew through my window and said, 'what?'

Hellooo...excuse the mid-month intrusion, but there are a couple of extremely urgent updates that I thought you should know about, what with them being extreme and urgent and all. Ok, maybe they aren't that extreme or urgent...I'll try to keep it in my briefs:
Captain Tractor's One Night Stand
Luke Doucet rides the jet lag express to the UK
Christine Fellows starts hitchhiking into your heart (touring) today, and by today I mean a couple days ago
Martin wins big...really big...huge...you better hope you're on his good side.
CAPTAIN TRACTOR
CAPTAIN TRACTOR rocks the Sidetrack Cafe in Edmonton for one show only on May 17th...we had to drop the show on the 18th due to scheduling mishaps (the hot tub in the back of the CT limousine got all clogged up with chimp fur, and it's the only day the repairman can be there, and the guys have to be there for moral support. But you probably already knew that, didn't you). So it's one night only for double the fun -- get there early or you will miss out! Opening the show is Christian Mena (of Maracuja! fame; hey, he knows Doogie!!!) and Kris Demeanor (with band) from Calgary (nerd out at www.krisdemeanor.com and impress/annoy all your friends with Kris Demeanor facts).
LUKE DOUCET
LUKE DOUCET has two dates confirmed for his quick trip to the UK in early June:
Sat. June 1, Kashmir Klub, London
Mon. June 3, The Greys, Brighton
He'll also be playing with the fabulous Oh Susanna in London (rumour has it they'll be playing at Buckingham Palace) on the 3rd. They have a habit of making out with statues when they are together overseas, so lock up your masonry!
CHRISTINE FELLOWS
CHRISTINE FELLOWS started her tour on wednesday. There are a few changes to her schedule since the last newsletter, so those of you who are doing the Emeralds thing and renting a bus to follow her across beautiful western Canada will want to pull out your palm pilots. Here is the updated itinerary:

MARTIN TIELLI
MARTIN TIELLI was honoured with the KM Hunter Artist Award for Music earlier this week. From what I gather, this fabulous award is intended for starving artists who shouldn't be starving. Yay! Thanks to Martin Hunter and the OAC. There is hope for starving artists everywhere. Oh, and watch the next newsletter for information about Martin's shows in Hamilton, Toronto, and Ottawa in early June. And another oh...watch for the impending release of the Rheostatics PIN video by the amazing Justin Stephenson...a weird masterpiece that somehow reminds one (among other things) of Fantasy Island, TS Eliot, the TeleTubbies, and Hell, all at the same time. Seeing is believing.
Beauty on,
