LUKE DOUCET/VEAL
Luke is taking time out from recording pure jeanj rock with his Veal dogs to tour his solo material, this time with a band. The western leg features Keith Rose (Royal Grand Prix, Hard Rock Miners, Roots Roundup) on upright bass and Garth Johnson (Carolyn Mark and her Roommates) on drums; and on the eastern leg, Luke will be joined by Drew Birston on bass and Paul Brennan on drums. Freak out like the wolf at these venues:
EDMONTON: Wed. Apr 3, The Black Dog
CALGARY: Thurs. Apr 4, Liberty Lounge (Mount Royal College)
SASKATOON: Fri. Apr 5, Amigo's Cafe
WINNIPEG: Sat. Apr 6, The Orbit Room
GUELPH: Thurs. Apr 11, Jimmy Jazz
KINGSTON: Thurs. Apr 18, The Scherzo Pub (with Luther Wright and the Wrongs)
OTTAWA (Wakefield): Fri. Apr 19, The Black Sheep Inn
MONTREAL: Sat. Apr 20, The Jupiter Room
TORONTO: Sat. Apr 27, The Rivoli
After the tour, Luke will also be appearing as part of the "flood family songwriter review" songwriter series, with Jason Collett, Jim Bryson, and Ruby Drake:
KINGSTON: Sun. Apr 28, Scherzo Pub
TORONTO: Mon. Apr 29, Rancho Relaxo
HAMILTON: Tues. Apr 30, The Casbah
WATERLOO: Wed. May 1, The Jane Bond
PETERBOROUGH: Thurs. May 2, The Gordon Best Theatre
In other Veal news: Taking a cue from J-Lo Luke will now only appear in movies if he is credited as L-Do, and Nik has similarly adopted the title N-Ko. Veal producer Steven Drake is seriously considering changing his name to Phil Harmonic. He has mag wheels on his Volvo (V-Vo), so look out.
MARTIN TIELLI
Just three more deadly dates left to go on Martin's tour, which thus far has been a hellride. The ultimate highlight so far just might have been the pure rock mayhem that was Fernie, where in their final encore the boys resorted to an a capella version of Nanaimo after breaking most of their equipment during a set that included an AC/DC cover of "You Shook Me All Night Long"...man, that Ford Pier can belt them out. You never know what might happen next in:
GUELPH: Thurs. Apr. 4, The Trasheteria, with Ford Pier
TORONTO: Fri. Apr. 5, Lee's Palace, with Wayne Omaha and Ford Pier
HAMILTON: Sat. Apr. 6, The Casbah, with Ford Pier and Tiny Bill Cody
Martin and his band, Operation Infinite Justice (Ford Pier, Greg Smith, Barry Mirochnick), head into the studio next month to record some of the songs they've been road testing over the last month. Jon Goldsmith of Nick Buzz fame will produce.
MIA SHEARD
Mia's third album, titled "anemone" is on its way to completion, and will likely be released in September. A sea cucumber is much different from the kind you might pickle, which doesn't necessarily make it an anemone, but it also doesn't mean we can't be friends. Mia is also playing the flood family songwriter review, with Jason Collett, Josh Findlayson (The Skydiggers), and Bob Kemmis:
KINGSTON: Sun. Apr. 7, The Scherzo Pub
PETERBOROUGH: Mon. Apr. 8, Gordon Best Theatre
HAMILTON: Tues. Apr. 9, The Casbah
WATERLOO: Wed. Apr. 10, The Jane Bond

SIX SHOOTER BULLETS
CAPTAIN TRACTOR hits Medicine Hat College on Friday, April 6 at Ezzie's, with Weed Monkey. This will be the last out-of-town date for CT before Chris hits the stage in Stage West's production of Evita...Don't cry for me, Argentina! Yes, he will be playing the part of Madonna. No, he doesn't want to play truth or dare, stop asking.
CHRISTINE FELLOWS' cd release tour was a smash success, not unlike that scene in Rocky 3 where Rambo kicks Hulk Hogan's ass- thanks to all of you who came out to the shows. She's back in the Peg recuperating, and will head out again on tour in May.
MARTIN's tour isn't even finished, and there are a ton of beauty people to thank for going above and beyond just being cool...Steve Carroll for airport double duty, the Weakerthans for the rock van, Jason, Keith, and Scott for the amp loans, Nathan for the backline, Debbie for the two trips to L&M, Matt for the ski discounts, Jayson for the wicked grub, WestJet for never charging us for the extra freight, Troy for the whammy bar, David for the credit card, Mike for the nice ass-saving offer, James for the kapo, Anne for the lipstick emergency, Colleen for the missing goods recovery, Kyra, Jennie, Nettie, Linnea, Ray, Wendy, Michelle, Tanya, Jim, Claire, Kat, Mike and Dave for helping out at the merch table, all the opening acts for the great music, and to the promoters for taking such good care of us. Most of all, thanks to all of you who came out to the shows.
Veal's Nik Kozub has coined the term "jeanj" as an abbreviation of the popular "jeanjacket". We sincerely hope that you try to work this amazing new word into your everyday conversations. If you need some useful phrases try: "Wow, it's nice out today...I think I'll rock the jeanj!" or "Hey bro, sweet jeanj!"
Beauty On!
