Good thing Luke is so young and energetic (not to mention fabulous)...if the above schedule doesn't kill him, he'll be back for more in November, this time in Ontario, Quebec, and all over the north-east US.
MARTIN TIELLI
The release of "We didn't even suspect that he was the poppy salesman" was a huge success. It's in stores now if you haven‚t picked up your copy yet. Great reviews all around, and the performances in Ontario and Montreal were stellar, made even more special with the involvement of his amazingly fabulous bandmates: Paul MacLeod, Greg Smith, and Barry Mirochnick. The last dates of Martin's CD release tour are this Saturday and Sunday at the Jane Bond in Waterloo.
Hot after the heels of Martin's amazing solo record comes a terrific new work by The Rheostatics, titled Night of the Shooting Stars (Perimeter Records). Rumour has it that street date is October 23, with PIN as the first single. A coast to coast tour is planned (confirmed dates appear below), many of which feature Kevin Hearn (Barenaked Ladies) as the support act, with whom Martin plays guitar on both the album and on-stage. Most notable is an 12 day run at The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, an idea that tips the hat to the one and only Stompin' Tom Connors, who holds the current record for consecutive sold out shows at the Horseshoe Tavern.
Here are the current confirmed dates:
EDMONTON: Tues Oct 23, U of A
CALGARY: Wed Oct 24, U of C
VICTORIA: Fri Oct 26, U of Vic
VANCOUVER: Sat Oct 27, Commodore Ballroom
TORONTO: Nov 7th through 18th, Horseshoe Tavern
MIA SHEARD
Lots and lots of dates across the country for Mia Sheard fans to check out this month, starting tomorrow night with Martin:

WINDSOR: Fri. Oct. 12, Fantastic Festival
Mia appears at the above performances with her full band in tow, with the exception of the Fantastic Festival, where she'll be accompanied by a percussionist. Later this month, Mia travels to western Canada where she'll brave BC and the prairies with her captivating solo performance.
WINNIPEG: Sat. Oct. 20, Ms Purdy's
EDMONTON: Wed. Oct. 24, Sidetrack Cafe, early show! 8 pm.
CALGARY: Thurs. Oct. 25, The Double Mo Cafe

There is still the opportunity to book a house concert with Mia on the western leg of her tour. If you’re interested, please let me know.
CAPTAIN TRACTOR
Celebrate Oktoberfest with Captain Tractor at the Sidetrack Cafe on October 12 and 13th. Tickets $10 in advance. Call the Track at 780-421-1326 for details.
Sorry to those folks in Saskatoon who were looking forward to Captain Tractor’s appearance at Screamfest. We’re working on another Saskatoon date for November.
Check out www.lodestarmusic.com for Chris's new CD soundtrack to Red Lips, which should be up this weekend.
NEVILLE ARBUCKLE
The fabulous Neville (NQ) Arbuckle played some rousing shows with west coast darling Carolyn Mark, whipping audiences into a frenzy over his upcoming CD, The Battle-scarred Pinata. But alas, Neville is in love and has been most neglectful in finishing this project, so here we are keeping our fingers crossed for a January release.
ELENI MANDELL
No, Eleni is not a Six Shooter recording artist, but she's so fabulous and hipster that I just had to let you know about two upcoming shows in Canada this month...
Toronto: Sat. Oct. 20 at The Rivoli, with Dan Bryk opening. Tix $10.
Montreal: Sun. Oct. 21 at Cafe Campus
Definitely worth checking out.
Thanks again to everyone who has signed up for this list. I’m off to the UK to schlep around with Luke...woo hoo! Until next month...
